Take from Ten (part 1)
The earlier post shows the algorithm as it shows up in practice. Here I've tried to back up a little and give a (relatively) brief example of how the teaching illustrates what's happening with each step involved.

Take From Ten - for subtracting with borrowing
This video should give a pretty good comparison between ways of looking at borrowing to subtract. Take From Ten helps to reduce the number of facts that a student needs to memorize and filter through to recall the desired fact, while working in the context of multi-step procedure. I hope this helps to make sense of it.
